Raj Thakker – Charter School Business Management

Raj Thakkar founded Charter School Business Management Inc. (CSBM) in March of 2006. In the four years prior to launching CSBM, Mr. Thakkar worked as the Chief Financial Officer of Explore Charter School in Brooklyn, NY. During his time at Explore, he gained first-hand experience managing a school’s intricate fiscal and operational responsibilities. While Explore was flourishing, Mr. Thakkar encountered a number of school leaders feeling overwhelmed and frustrated by the operational and financial tasks they faced. He saw a need, and created CSBM to meet it.

Since then, CSBM has worked with over 100 existing and proposed charter schools and school support organizations in New York, New Orleans, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, and Newark to ensure the implementation of sound fiscal and operational practices. CSBM was recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with the 2009 Blue Ribbon Small Business Award. Congratulations Raj Thakker and the Charter School Business Management team!
